Defense Budget Requested by Biden for 2025: $895 Billion

We did it, Joe! In his budget request for the fiscal year of 2025, President Biden has sought a historic military budget of $895 billion.

With an approximately $850 billion allocation, the Pentagon will receive the lion’s share of this money.

The rest would be distributed among various US federal departments for military initiatives, including the Energy Department’s nuclear weapons program.

This is a huge sum, but it would have been far larger had the White House and House Republicans not secured a debt ceiling agreement last year that limited military spending in 2024 and 2025.

Congress has yet to appropriate the $895 billion National Defense Authorization Act of 2024, a 1% increase from the previous year.
